Dear Lord in Heaven,
Help me. My heart cries for my people. YOUR PEOPLE. God, we're not safe walking to the store, sitting in the gas station parking lot, or even praying to you in your house.
Adonai, we feel helpless. It seems every morning we awake to text alerts from news agencies telling us more of our brothers and sisters have left us behind. We've always been a resilient people, but our backs are breaking under the hate of this world.
Jehovah-Gmolah, Lord of Recompense, you tell us vengeance is yours (Romans 12:19). I pray you help us to leave it in your hands.
Jehovah-Jireh please provide a light. Although the sun shines, our minds are clouded with images of black hearses carrying our mothers and fathers to be lain to rest.
Jehovah-Shalom, cover us with your love. We don't know who among us seek to do us harm and we grow weary with uncertainty. This feeling of being alone does not come from you. Lay your hand upon us, I beg you. We yearn for your touch.
Jehovah-Rapha heal the hearts of the persecutors and the persecuted. You only have the power to rid hearts of abhorrence and agony.
Jehovah-Nissi remind us that in you, we have victory. Our time on earth is limited, but with you we will remain forever. There is hope.
God, my God, heal our hearts, make us whole, remind us that we are yours.
Order my steps. Use me, Lord, to bring about change in whatever way you desire.
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen.
Psalm 121:1-8
1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
I worship You because of who You are
